New Second Life Video
What a wonderful time I am having learning to make videos!
Last year I didn’t have a computer strong enough to keep my fps up to an acceptable recording level for video and ended up taking a series of still shots and creatively editing them for Ravie and the Machine. This year is different, and I have a bit of time to explore with video and Second Life.
One of the responsibilities my husband has is creating the video tutorials for Second Life residents and that afforded me the luxury of a hands on tutor for all the complicated boring stuff like how to save it, encode it, and such. I played with some of the software one uses for creating video then called in Torley for some advice, and then totally drenched myself in creative juices for the remainder of the day.
A big thank you to Torley for all his help and providing me with so many delicious pieces of music to choose from for re-purposing.

Spectacular Atmosphere and Artistry by Kazuhiro Aridian
The excellence level surely is higher than ever in Second Life. I recently had the pleasure of being pointed to a build by Kazuhiro Aridian and my socks were knocked right off.
It was later in the evening at my house, things were quiet, I had a bit of music going and feeling relaxed and ready to do some exploring in Second Life, one of my favorite pastimes. I never go in for a good explore with any expectation because it can be a crap shoot. Spiral Walcher passed me a landmark and said I needed to stop by this place, so I did.
Upon rezzing in, I wasn’t sure where I was, I was a bit disoriented so I just stood still waiting for it to come in to focus and as the texture loaded, what unfolded itself to me was truly magical. These are the good things in Second Life, these kind of experiences, the discovery. I stood there alone, and looking above myself I witnessed these beautiful seadryke engaging in a fluid dance that tantalized all my senses. I do hope you have an opportunity to go and experience this for yourself.
Bravo to Kazuhiro, you create with excellence.

The Beauty of GLOW

I once blogged about how I saw no good coming from glow, I was surely mistaken and the fantastic artists of Second Life continually make me eat my words. I am happy to admit that while there is potential for abuse of glow, I surely love it and i am grateful we have glow in Second Life now. It further extends our palette of tools for building, the use of light and shadow are extremely important elements to building in Second Life. I am certain there are misuses of glow just like any build option but I’d never want to give it up now that we have it.
